6th May, 2019, was indeed a red – letter day for the management, the staff and the students of Don Bosco ITI, Chinchwad, as the inauguration ceremony of STEP (Shaeffler Techinical Enhancement Program) was organized in the well – furnished Technical Laboratory, in the afternoon.

Members of the management, The Staff, and the students gathered at about 4 p.m. near the entrance of the Lab and wcomed the dignitaries from the esteemed Schaeffler company. Mr. Dharmesh Arora, President and CEO Schaeffler India, cut the ribbon and thus formally inaugurated the Autotronics Lab set up by the Schaeffler Company and thereafter all entered the Lab with great enthusiasm to witness the inauguration ceremony.

Mrs. Pallavi, Human Resource Head, briefed about the mission, vision and the motto of the company in establishing the advanced Technical Lab in order to provide training in Technical Skill on Auto electronics in collaboration with the Don Bosco Institute and then she invited the students from the institute to present a prayer song followed by a welcome song.

Next the dignitaries were invited to light the lamp and thereafter they were felicitated by presenting them with traditional Puneri topi and bouquet.

Mr. Mayur Deshmukh, the principal of the Institute, welcomed the dignitaries and others and expressed great joy as the long cherished dream of starting an advanced course on Auto electronics was being fulfilled with the inauguration of STEP. He announced amidst cheer that the course was first of its kind in India. He also announced that a batch of 20 students were selected to pursue the course.

Next Mr. Rakesh Jinsy, Independent Director CSR, expressed happiness to enter into a partnership with the esteemed Don Bosco Institute for imparting technical education to the marginalized poor students.

Two students, Bharati from Advanced Auto Body Repair and Stanford Pinto from Motor Mechanic Vehicle second year, shared their experience while being trained in their respective trades. Mr. Santanu Ghoshal, Vice – President HR Schaeffler India, in his address, acknowledged  that Don Bosco Institutes were the pioneer in providing technical training to the poor students and he took pride in collaborating with the organization in providing advanced training in Autotronics.

Rev. Fr. Lester Fernandes, the Director of the institute, briefed about the mission of St. Don Bosco, the founder of the Salesian Institutes, to pick up the marginalized poor and give them the best education and the Salesians have been following the footsteps of their founder. He stated that the students, who pass out from the institutes, are in a more advantageous position than their counter parts. He proposed a vote of thanks to the dignitaries for taking out their valuable time amidst their busy schedule. He also thanked Mrs. Pallavi and Mr. Sumit for setting up the Lab so remarkably.

Mr. Dharmesh Arora in his speech elucidated the changes and advancement that have taken place in the automobile industry, the paradigm shift from mechanical skill to the application of electronics and expressed happiness to learn that the institute has been incorporating values along with the training provided to guide the students for meeting the future challenges.

The following dignitaries from Schaeffler India, Mr. Satish Patel, Director & CFO Schaeffler India, Mr. Biswa Mandal, Vice President Technology, Schaeffler India, Mr. Alok Dave, Vice President Purchasing Schaeffler India also graced the occasion by their valuable presence.
