Don Bosco Vyawasaik Prashikshan Kendra was set up in Chinchwad, Maharashtra, on August 15, 1999 to cater to school dropout youth from poor households. Don Bosco Vyawasaik Prashikshan Kendra presently conducts many formal and non-formal technical training courses, which is spread over a year, divided into semesters or modules.

Don Bosco Vyawasaik Prashikshan Kendra has been taking keen interest to prepare skilled trainees as demanded by various industries. They have been very successful in establishing linkages with several Indian & multinational companies like Mahindra and Mahindra, Bajaj, Knorr-Bremse, Lorch, Bosch, Fiat, Mercedes, SKF, AMDOCS, Godrej, Whirlpool and Hero-Honda, Taj group of Hotels, Café Coffee Day, TATA Trent, Forbes Marshall and other local established companies. Linkages with these companies ensure that the students and instructors are constantly updated in their knowledge and skills, and thus are able to keep abreast with the changes in the world of employment that they will soon enter.

The students here are given a spectrum of opportunities to express their talents and potentials. After developing a certain level of confidence, these children are trained in several skill trades and life-coping skills to help them earn a livelihood. This helps them to develop a positive view of their future. The institute is not only engaged in training activates but also performing successful activities such as Apprenticeship recruitment camp, Motivation campaign, Campus Interviews, Training to the Service providers as well as Sports Activities.

Don Bosco Vyawasaik Prashikshan Kendra, Chinchwad presently conducts a non formal technical training programme which is spread over 6 months. These courses are designed exclusively for our target group who are mostly underprivileged, unemployed youth and school dropouts. Accordingly, the courses include a component of basic mathematics (Middle school levels), though much more emphasis is laid on practical teaching as against class-room (theoretical) teaching. The class room component comprises theory, mathematics and engineering drawing. Teachers here are sensitive to the needs of the students and teach in a manner that the students can comprehend. Technical terminology is simplified and explained to them in a language that they can easily understand. Don Bosco Vyawasaik Prashikshan Kendra, Chinchwad is a registered (VTP) vocational training provider under the MES schemes. Therefore the courses run by our training institute are certified by NCVT (National Council for Vocational Training) under the Government of India. We are also registered as Private Industrial Training Institute under DGEVT (Director General Education of Vocational Training, Government of India).

The types of courses conducted at Don Bosco Vyawasaik Prashikshan Kendra, Chinchwad has gradually evolved over the past years. In the first year a single course in welding was offered. In 2002, small components of auto electrical and battery assembly were introduced in the same course. Today, Don Bosco Vyawasaik Prashikshan Kendra, Chinchwad has introduced several short term skills driven training programmes for the youth such as Welding, Four-wheeler Mechanic, Electrician, Refrigeration and Air conditioning, Machinist cum CNC, Hospitality (food and beverage & house-keeping), BPO and Fork-lift operator for the duration of 6 months. We also have ITI courses in Draftsmen, Electrician, Automobile, Fitter, Body Denting & Painting and Welding. We also offer Indo-German Mechanical Training Course (VETnet) in collaboration with Indo-German Chambers of Commerce.
